XPressEntry Handhelds

At the entryway to the confined space, the safety attendant will track employee entries and exits with the handheld device using the XPressEntry application.

The XPressEntry handheld device has these key features:
  • Proximity card reader to scan employee badges
  • Touchscreen interface and large durable buttons (can be used while wearing work gloves)
  • Wireless connectivity to connect with the on-site server
  • AC Adapter cord for recharging internal battery when not in use
  • Optional shoulder strap

XPressEntry handheld The handheld devices are used by the safety attendants at each entryway to the confined space. When an entrant approaches the entryway, the safety attendant selects the direction of travel, and taps the employee's badge to the badge reader built into the handheld to log their entry or exit.

The XPressEntry handheld application allows the safety attendant to:
  • Record entrant activity by choosing a direction of travel and scanning the entrant's badge, then verify that the employee badge scanned matches the employee
  • View a list of current occupants, along with how long they've been inside the confined space
  • View a list of recent activity, including information from the on-site server
  • Send one of several pre-set messages to the on-site server

Prevent unauthorized access to your confined spaces!
When the safety attendant scans the badge of an unrecognized potential entrant, the handheld reader will alert the attendant that this person is not currently in the system, then proceed to download the latest entrant list from the on-site server (in case they were recently added). If the personnel is still unrecognized, the safety attendant can refer the potential entrant to the on-site safety monitor to verify whether this person should be admitted, and if so, they can be added to the entrant list.

The handheld devices are also designed to prevent unauthorized record tampering. Before any entry activity can be recorded, a safety attendant (or safety monitor) has to log in by scanning their badge. An additional option, when an entryway has a prox card mounted near it, requires safety attendants to periodically log in themselves and the entryway, to ensure that handheld device activity is current with the attendant at that point of entry.
